If your emails are landing in spam, the most common cause isn’t your writing, it’s your setup. Email servers check for technical signals that prove an email really came from you, and if those aren’t configured, your messages look suspicious even when they’re not.
The technical pieces involved
- SPF tells receiving servers which servers are allowed to send email for your domain
- DKIM digitally signs your emails so they can’t be tampered with in transit
- DMARC tells receiving servers what to do if an email fails those checks
If any of these are missing or misconfigured, some inboxes will quietly filter your email away, without you ever knowing it happened.
Other common causes
Sending from a brand-new domain, using spam-trigger words, or a sudden jump in sending volume can also hurt deliverability. If you’ve recently changed hosting or email providers, that’s often when these settings get missed.
Cherry Lemon checks and correctly configures SPF, DKIM and DMARC as part of every business email setup.
